Rising energy prices, the development of renewable energy sources, and new opportunities for public support are raising the question of how municipalities can manage their energy systems more effectively and reduce energy consumption and related costs in the long term.
The Energy Saving Pathways in Municipalities course offers a practically oriented introduction to energy management at the municipal level. It is designed for municipal employees and representatives as well as external experts who support municipalities in this area. Participants will gain a basic understanding of the legal environment of the energy sector, options for financing energy savings and renewable energy sources, and the economic and technical assessment of energy-saving measures.
The course combines several areas important for the effective management of municipal energy systems. You will become familiar with the fundamentals of energy sector regulation, including licensing, regulated price setting, permitting of energy infrastructure, and support for energy sources.
Attention is also given to options for operational and investment support for renewable energy sources and energy savings, including operational programmes, the National Recovery Plan, the Modernisation Fund, and the New Green Savings Programme.
The course also covers energy management focused on monitoring energy consumption and related costs and identifying pathways to energy savings. It further addresses the principles of developing and using a municipal energy strategy and the basic technical options for energy-saving solutions.
